In no particular order...

...I'd like to point out the following people and things for helping me through this day.

  • the secretaries that were on the receiving end of my "cold-calling."
-Thanks for not being as mean as you normally could be given all of the questions I had to ask you. Also, for keeping the conversations fun, short, and uninvolved.

  • Apple products.
-Thank you for creating the most user friendly products on the planet. For the "Genius" playlists you make on iTunes when I don't want to decide myself and for making it easier to keep in contact with people. I am grateful.

Speaking of which...

  • Video chat.
-Technology is great. Especially when it helps me talk to my sister. And especially when I can see a dance she's choreographed with a friend that made me laugh. A lot.

  • My roommate.
-For being ever-so-patient and encouraging and reassuring and calm and helpful and available. For listening.

  • My mom.
-For learning how to use Gmail (!) and Facebook (!).  For chatting and texting and talking with me throughout the day.

  • The walk I went on.
-This was probably the best part of my day. It was an absolutely beautiful day in Texas. Mid 40s, barely any wind, and the sun was so bright and warm. I grabbed my iPod, my phone, and just started walking. I went for a walk down and around some hills and over by the lake. By the time I got to the lake, the sun was directly above me and I could see and hear the breeze through the trees. I decided to get away from the road and walk right by the water. Walking on the actual ground is always better anyway.

Right when I made it down there, some geese starting flying just barely above the water as they moved across the lake. It was beautiful. I walked on a little further and just as I rounded a corner, there was a HUGE group of geese on the edge of the shore about to hop into the water. As I got closer, they all eased into the water and then quickly took off - flying far off to the end of the lake.

I wish I had a picture of this. A way to recreate exactly what this scene looked like. A way to express exactly what that moment felt like - the peace, the warmth from the sun, the smell of being outside. I needed that. I needed the walk. To be able to get out and be in nature. The fresh air. I wish I had a picture, but part of me wonders if that moment was meant just for me. For me to feel a moment of peace. For me to feel loved. Who knows. Either way, I am so very thankful.
